'I know every musician writes a song about the mid-1990's struggle between the spotted owl and the logging industry, but this is ours,' says singer-songwriter Jared Goode, joking about his EP's title track, a fun and charged Americana experience recounting his own perspective growing up as the son of a man who played a major role in protecting the northern spotted owl in Southern Oregon. It's political tones do not overshadow the upbeat nature of the tune, and it does not aim to take sides...only explore them. The eclectic nature of the title track serves as a microcosm of the entire collection of songs. Serious themes are tackled with rousing vigor in 'Could I?' (written by Goode's long-time friend Carolyn Poston), while a more reflective and mellow vibe comes across in 'Leaving' and the beautiful ballad 'What it Can Do' (an instrumental of which appeared on MTV's THE REAL WORLD, HOLLYWOOD). Perhaps the most talked-about track on the EP is 'Walk of Love.' 'It is really our only love song,' says Goode. The hilarious tale of loss and forbidden love is always the buzz amidst audience members after a show. The Timber! EP was made possible by the collective efforts of some very talented individuals. Goode, along with the musically versatile Andrea Alseri, produced the record (at some point Alseri plays everything from lead guitar to a kitchen colander!). Featured background vocalists include the exquisite Bryan Sandlin and Broadway sensation Zonya Love. Somewhere in the Pacific Northwest there is a song, and it sounds something like this.... 'Tiiiiiiiiimmmberrrrrrrr!'
