Un-like-ly /-'li-kle/ adj (14c) 1 : not likely : improbable 2 : likely to fail : unpromising Unlikely. Ask any one of the writers in the group based out of Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus, Nebraska, and that is very well what they may have said three years ago about the possibility of a partnership writing for the local church and the broader Body of Christ. And yet, that is exactly what they are doing today. God seems to take delight in the 'unlikely'. The writer's group is currently comprised of Sue Christensen, Travis Purkerson, both of Columbus, Nebraska and Lisa Qualsett, of Fremont, Nebraska. Sue is the wife of Brian and mother of three. She has been involved in music for most of her life in some capacity, either singing, playing or writing. Travis is the husband of Ruth, father of four, and the worship pastor at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church. He hails from Oregon where he grew up and served the church musically and pastorally. Lisa is the wife of Bart and mother of two, and has been writing for the past six years. She is actively involved in the worship ministry at her church. Each began their writing journey in a different location and time of life, but, three years ago God brought them all together in the cornfields of Nebraska. At the encouragement of Pastor Mike Neely of Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus, they began writing for the local church to musically communicate the word of God and to support the preaching ministry, both seasonally and weekly. The heart of this ministry is to glorify God in all that is written and to bless the body of Christ with songs that communicate the Truth. The songs contained on the project 'Still Amazed' were chosen from among those that have been written over the past 3 years as a part of the ministry. They vary in style and theme and are representative of some of the different types of writing that the church has incorporated into the worship service. This album is an 'unlikely' gift for which they are grateful to have been a part. Above all else, they are grateful that God, who chooses the weak things of the world to shame the wise, would allow them the great joy and privilege of writing songs about the most amazing subject in the entire universe. Himself.
