From New York musical revues through jazz recordings in the '20s with Duke Ellington to Broadway, and then the London Palladium in 1931, which introduced her to life in the UK, she rapidly became a versatile and in-demand performer with a highly individual style. Her rejection of the institutionalized racism of the US business brought her to Europe, where she forged a hugely varied career in Paris and London, which made her a fixture in UK theatres, still treading the boards into her 80s. This extraordinary life left a legacy of varied and fascinating recordings, a 52-track selection of which is presented here, from her landmark recording of "Creole Love Call" with Ellington in 1927 to Broadway and West End musicals of the '50s. It is a long-overdue tribute to a star who has not enjoyed the recognition she deserves.

Tracks:
1.1 Creole Love Call
1.2 The Blues I Love to Sing
1.3 Chicago Stomp Down
1.4 I Must Have That Man
1.5 Baby!
1.6 Too Darn Fickle
1.7 I Got Rhythm
1.8 Rhapsody in Love
1.9 Strange As It Seems
1.10 I'll Never Be the Same
1.11 You Gave Me Everything But Love
1.12 This Time It's Love
1.13 I Must Have That Man
1.14 Baby
1.15 Drop Me Off in Harlem
1.16 Reachin' for the Cotton Moon
1.17 I'm in the Mood for Love
1.18 Truckin'
1.19 East of the Sun
1.20 Solitude
1.21 I'm Shooting High
1.22 Say You're Mine
1.23 Where or When
1.24 I Can't Give You Anything But Love
1.25 That Old Feeling
1.26 T'ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It)
2.1 Deep Purple
2.2 Don't Worry 'Bout Me
2.3 Transatlantic Lullaby
2.4 The Lady Is a Tramp
2.5 Chloe
2.6 This Can't Be Love
2.7 No Souvenirs
2.8 All the Things You Are
2.9 Our Love Affair
2.10 Ain't It a Shame About Mame
2.11 How Did He Look
2.12 Yes, My Darling Daughter
2.13 I Hear a Rhapsody
2.14 I, Yi, Yi, Yi, Yi (I Like You Very Much)
2.15 Sand in My Shoes
2.16 As Time Goes By
2.17 There Goes That Song Again
2.18 Vanity
2.19 How Many Times
2.20 Hushabye
2.21 A Touch of Voodoo
2.22 Savannah's Wedding Day
2.23 For Every Fish
2.24 Common Sense
2.25 Blue Bird on My Shoulder
2.26 A Touch of Voodoo
2.27 Kind to Animals
