Appealing in it's unabashed melodies and colorfully nostalgic feel, Arutiunian's Trumpet Concerto became popular in the West, while Weinberg's emotive Trumpet Concerto in B flat major was summed up by Shostakovich as a 'symphony for trumpet and orchestra'.
