He took a stage name that paid tribute to two Incan rulers and became a revolutionary who studied indigenous cultures. His ethnographic work became internationally known; he performed with Edith Piaf and his compositions were later recorded by the likes of Mercedes Sosa. Yupanqui is considered the most important Argentine folk musician of the 20th century, and this 1982 album, Buenas Noches, Compatriotas, reissued here on Fremeaux, is now considered a historical recording.

Tracks:
1.1 La Milonga Perdida
1.2 Monte Callado
1.3 El Mal Dormido
1.4 Onases/El Arbol, El Rio, El Hombre
1.5 Milonga Del Peon de Campo
1.6 Mi Viejo Potro Tordillo
1.7 Hay Lena Que Arde Sin Humo/El Carrero/Ave Que Pasas Cantado/Los Yuyitos
1.8 La Amorosa
1.9 La Humilde
1.10 Pa' Que
1.11 El Aromo
1.12 Si Me Veis Mirando Lejos
1.13 Testimonio Final
1.14 La Tengo Rabia Al Silencio
1.15 Cruz Del Sur
1.16 Zamba de Vargas
1.17 Coplas de Baguala
