Discovered by Oille McLaughlin, the talent scout who also discovered Del Shannon, she hit in 1963 with Hello Stranger (US No 3 hit). For Atlantic she also charted with Puppy Love, Make Me Your Baby, Make Me Belong To You and (almost as timeless as Hello Stranger) Baby I'm Yours. Barbara Lewis had retired from the music business by 1967 but her 1970 album for Stax-subsidiary label Enterprise (ENS 1006) was a fine coda to her earner Atlantic material.
