New York City based bassist and composer, Bill Holcomb, is pleased to offer his first solo album project "Thinking Out Loud," featuring some of NYC's top musicians recorded and mixed at Avatar Studios (formerly known as the legendary Power Station). This self composed and produced project is an eclectic blend of jazz influenced styles, incorporating both his electric and acoustic bass playing. When asked about Thinking Out Loud, Holcomb had this to say: 'The concept of 'Thinking Out Loud' was to create a CD of jazz influenced music that is fun for the musicians to play and enjoyable for both simple and advanced listeners. Stylistically, it hits some different jazz veins that I like, there's a Monk influenced straight ahead swing tune, some jazz rock, some funk, some ECM type stuff... even an acoustic pop tune written and sung by my lovely and talented friend Emily Curtis. It has been a pleasure to involve some of my friends from the NYC music scene, some of whom include Steeley Dan Guitarist Jon Herington, Joel Frahm saxophonist with Jane Monheit, and Blues Brothers trombonist Birch Johnson. From start to finish there were great people involved helping me bring this project to life. I am thankful for everyone's contribution, and hope the listeners will enjoy the end-product!' Holcomb's tenure as a New York musician has included performing in numerous Broadway shows, studio, and live performances in a wide variety of musical settings.
