His commissions include works for some of the most celebrated artists of our day. Each of the Twelve Études is dedicated to a particular pianist with it's own substantial technical demands, but all are conceived as concert pieces with a self-contained narrative. The variations in the Piano Fantasy are based on the final chorale of Bach's St Matthew Passion.
