Welcomed overwhelmingly on it's première, Eggert's large-scale First Symphony hints at Mozart and Haydn but foreshadows Mendelssohn in it's wind textures and rich harmonies. The Third Symphony is kaleidoscopic in it's moments of light and shade and unusual in it's gigantic fugal finale.
