He avidly collected traditional melodies and composed lyrics to them if these did not exist; if they did exist, he passionately fought to preserve them in their original Scots form rather than Anglicize them. In this album, Ewan MacColl, one of the leaders of the British folk revival, presents a faithful and engaging interpretation of Burns' great work. Liner notes include an appreciation of Burns as a songwriter and lyrics, with explanations of some of the unfamiliar words and phrases.

Tracks:
1.1 Green Grow the Rashes, O
1.2 Landlady, Count the Lawin
1.3 I Maun Hae a Wife
1.4 O That I Had Ne'er Been Married
1.5 Galloway Tam
1.6 I Hae a Wife O' My Ain
1.7 There's Cauld Kail in Aberdeen
1.8 A Braw Wooer
1.9 The Rantin Dog, the Daddie O't
1.10 Ay Waukin, O
1.11 Duncan Grey
1.12 Wha'll Mow Me Now?
1.13 Rattlin Roarin' Willie
1.14 Hey Ca' Thro'
1.15 To Daunton Me
1.16 Jumpin John
1.17 What Can a Young Lassie Do Wi' An Auld Man
1.18 The Dusty Miller
1.19 Tibbie Dunbar
1.20 The Cooper O' Cuddy
1.21 She's Fair and Fause
1.22 The Deil's Awa Wi' TH' Exciseman
1.23 A Man's a Man for A' That
