He appeared on many important sessions of the 60s as well as making solo albums for Blue Note, Atlantic, CTI and Colombia. In 1980 he won a Grammy for his CTI album First Light. From the mid-'70s he was a crossover Jazz specialists, hitting the R\u0026amp;B charts with his fantastic Jazz Fusion. Splash was his final excursion into this territory. Sought after in particular for the collaboration with Jeanie Tracy, 'You're Gonna Lose Me', is a big favorite with the modern Soul crowd, but the whole album is a great mix of Funk, Jazz and Soul.
