He is especially known as a co-founder of Tropicália, a movement that reshaped Brazilian music by blending traditional Brazilian styles with rock, reggae, funk, and other global influences. Mónica Salmaso is widely regarded as one of Brazil's leading contemporary singers because she combines deep respect for the Brazilian canon with a highly personal interpretive style.
