After arriving in California in 1950, Holiday recorded briefly for Capitol Records, followed by an album for Dick Bock's Pacifica label. In addition, Holiday also recorded for Contemporary Records, Kapp Records with Russ Garcia, and the Mode label with the great Marty Paich arranging. It was during this time (1957-58) that Johnny recorded the album presented here - featuring popular music classics from Broadway, motion pictures, and evergreens from the great American songbook, all sung with the utmost quality and artistic taste - including the title track, \"How High the Moon,\" \"Unforgettable,\" \"God Bless the Child\" and other vintage classics.
