Vinyl LP pressing. Satellite City represents a remarkable evolution for Steve Kimock, long known as a brilliant psychedelic improvisational guitarist. Building on a realm of creativity unleashed by his recent solo album, Last Danger of Frost, he assembled Kimock the band featuring his son John Morgan Kimock on drums, his life-long bass-playing partner Bobby Vega, and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Leslie Mendelson. Together they have catalyzed an incandescent level of song composition that explores a variety of territories. Kimock & Mendelson's "Careless Love" is exquisitely romantic, Cole Porter for the 21st Century. "Friend of the Sun" and "Orson," written by John Morgan and Steve, blend tape mash-ups with Kimock's soaring guitar work. And the title track, an exploration of the dream-state mystic corners of the universe, brilliantly sets Mendelson's voice against an instrumental weave to extraordinary effect. Produced by Dave Schools and recorded at Bob Weir's TRI Studios.
