Luzzasco: Complete Keyboard Music / Matteo Messori / Composer: Girolamo Diruta, Luzzasco Luzzaschi / Performer: Matteo Messori / Number of Discs: 1 / Length: 1 Hours 12 Mins. Recorded: August & September 2011, Santuario di Santa Maria di Valverde, Marano di Valpolicella (Verona) & Basilica di San Martino Maggiore, Bologna. Luzzasco Luzzaschi, born in Ferrara, was one of the most celebrated composers and keyboard players of the Italian Renaissance. In service of the most influential patrons of his time, Duke Alfonso II, he developed a new keyboard style, in which vocal madrigals are arranged for intricate and complex 4-part keyboard writing, featuring skilful counterpoint and elaborate ornamentation. Expert, "historically informed" and expressive performances by Italian harpsichordist and organist Matteo Messori, who already recorded extensively for Brilliant Classics, notably the Schütz Edition, and the Clavierübung and Kunst der Fuge by Bach, which received excellent 5 star reviews in the international press (Fono Forum, Diapason).
