Visions of heroism and death form the disc's cornerstone, in the WWI work Ditirambo tragico (Tragic Dithyramb) and in Malipiero's two earliest surviving pieces, Dai sepolcri (From 'Tombs') and Sinfonia degli eroi (Symphony of Heroes).
