Regarded as the most important musician to have come out of the Bay Area in the post-WWII era, he went on to enjoy a long career, spanning seven decades. McCracklin formed the first line-up of his celebrated BLUES BLASTERS in 1946, with guitarist Robert Kelton, who was replaced by Lafayette Thomas in 1949. The band carved out a mighty reputation, upon which he built his subsequent career. This compilation anthologises McCracklin's earliest recordings, between 1945-51, including pre-Blues Blasters sides, for a wide raft of different record labels. It is the prequel to another Jimmy McCracklin Jasmine 2-CD set, "Hear My Story" (JASMCD3080), which picked up his recording career from 1952.

Tracks:
1.1 Miss Mattie Left Me
1.2 Mean Mistreated Lover
1.3 Highway 101
1.4 Baby Don't You Want to Go
1.5 Achin' Heart
1.6 Street Loafin' Woman
1.7 You Deceived Me
1.8 Ola May
1.9 She's a Wino
1.10 Rock and Rye (Part 1)
1.11 Rock and Rye (Part 2)
1.12 You Had Your Chance
1.13 Special for You
1.14 Rock and Rye
1.15 Miss Minnie Lee Blues
1.16 Bad Luck and Trouble
1.17 Railroad Blues
1.18 Jimmy's Blues
1.19 Playin' on Me
1.20 Big Foot Mama
1.21 When I'm Gone
1.22 South Side Mood (Inst)
1.23 Listen Woman
1.24 I Can't Understand Love
1.25 Bad Condition Blues
1.26 Blues Blasters Shuffle (Inst)
1.27 Low Down Mood
2.1 She's My Baby
2.2 Love When It Rains
2.3 Your Heart Ain't Right
2.4 Just Won't Let Her Go
2.5 Rockin' All Day (Reelin' and Rockin')
2.6 I Think My Time Is Here
2.7 Deceivin' Blues
2.8 Beer Drinkin' Woman
2.9 Up and Down Blues
2.10 Gotta Cut Out
2.11 Bad Health Blues
2.12 You Deceived Me
2.13 Ragged As a Mop (Hamburger Joint)
2.14 Don't Mistreat Me (My Life Depends on You)
2.15 Gonna Find Another Woman
2.16 Looking for a Woman
2.17 You Don't Love Me
2.18 I'm Gonna Have My Fun
2.19 True Love Blues
2.20 Rockin' Man
2.21 What's Your Phone Number
2.22 That's Life
2.23 Blues for the People (Melancholy Evening) (Inst)
2.24 I Found That Woman (Blues for the People)
2.25 House Rockin' Blues
2.26 Movin' on Down the Line
2.27 I Am Tired
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2976/0132/files/4336980-3179077_4a39acad-f514-4a86-a758-f70511e1816f.jpg?v=1718882513
