As a tween in Miami, she drifted toward the Euro-pop sound and underground dance music scene and eventually fell in love with house music. She most enjoyed music that leaned in a tropical direction which reminded her of her youth. A natural born vocalist, Soma began writing lyrics and music in her late teens and then started performing - first at house parties and then a few select nightclubs, and began to develop a dedicated following.
