Early in 1954 he cut his first single for Al Benson's Parrot label subsidiary Blue Lake: \"Goin' Back to Memphis\" B\u0026amp;W \"Devil Is a Busy Man.\" This single ranks among the best recordings of a career which spanned almost five decades. The musicians supporting Slim's piano and vocals are thought to be Snooky Pryor on harmonica and Floyd Jones and Eddie Taylor on guitars.
