The volume of great songs that Sam wrote in a secular career spanning barely seven years is matched by the quality of those songs - many of which are fundamental to the evolution of soul music in the early-mid 60s. It's therefore logical and right that Sam should appear in Ace's occasional BLACK AMERICA SINGS series, as he does this month in a package issued close to the 50th anniversary of his death in December 1964. BRING IT ON HOME features some of Sam's best-known songs (as well as - this being Ace - some of his least-known), many performed by artists whose careers Sam helped to get underway, including Johnnie Taylor, the Simms Twins, Mel Carter, and Bobby Womack. Also featured are a number of singers who owe a vocal debt to Sam, including Brenton Wood, R.B. Greaves, Johnny Nash, Otis Redding and Louis Williams of the Ovations.

Tracks:
1.1 Having a Party (Medley) - the Ovations
1.2 Rome (Wasn't Built in a Day) - Johnnie Taylor
1.3 You Send Me - Percy Sledge
1.4 Shake - Otis Redding
1.5 The Sound of My Man (Chain Gang) - Theola Kilgore
1.6 I'm Gonna Forget About You - Bobby Womack
1.7 When a Boy Falls in Love - Mel Carter
1.8 Bring It on Home to Me - Eddie Floyd
1.9 That's Heaven to Me - the Soul Stirrers
1.10 Cupid - R B Greaves
1.11 Dance What You Wanna - the Miracles
1.12 I'll Come Running Back to You - Roy Hamilton
1.13 I'm Alright- Little Anthony and the Imperials
1.14 Wonderful World - Johnny Nash
1.15 Love You Most of All - the Persuasions
1.16 A Change Is Gonna Come - Brenton Wood
1.17 Nobody Loves Me Like You Do - the Flamingos
1.18 Somebody Have Mercy - Willie Hightower
1.19 Win Your Love for Me - Lou Rawls
1.20 The Smile - the Simms Twins
1.21 Good Times - Aretha Franklin
1.22 Soothe Me - Sam and Dave
1.23 Ain't That Good News - the Supremes
