In the 1950 's, Memphis, Tennessee (and the local Tri-State area) was a stunning Pot-Pourri of music from supercharged R\u0026amp;B to plaintive Hillbilly, to cotton patch Blues, to the intense emotion of Gospel and the tough sounds of Rock 'n' Roll and Rockabilly. It was all there and it was an Alabama man - Sam Phillips - who was the first to realize that so much talent needed an outlet and duly founded the Memphis Recording Service. Many other local entrepreneurs attempted to emulate Sam's success with varying results. Some companies foundered after only two or three releases, others released a credible catalog's worth of 45 's, whilst a few would actually enter the Billboard charts with sizeable hits. This CD represents a documentation of one of those smaller, highly individual record companies to whom we owe so much... Vaden Records. Founded by husband and wife Arlen and Jackie Vaden in Trumann, Arkansas in the late 1950 's. 35 hot rockin' tracks make their CD debuts here, with the usual detailed sleeve notes and label discography.
