Gonezilla is a doom metal band created in 2011 in Lyon, with Céline Revol on vocals, Florent Petit on vocals and guitar, Julien Babot on lead guitar, Clément Fau on bass and Florent Olivier on drums.After an eponymous demo in 2013 and numerous concerts, the band releases their first album "Chimères" in 2016, which give them opportunities to play in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland.At the end of 2020 the band part ways with Céline, and recruits Karen Hau singer of metal prog band Octavus Lupus. They worked together on their new album "Aurore", finalized in the fall of 2021, mastered by Greg Chandler at the Priory Recording Studios in Birmingham (Esoteric, Mourning Beloveth...) and to be released on April 22nd 2022 by M&O Music.November 2021 also marks the arrival of Eric Tabourier (Octavus Lupux, ex-Penumbra, ex-Temple of Baal, ex-Nydvind) as new drummer.The band's musical style is based on low tuned guitars, heavily distorted riffs, melodic arrangements and drum rhythms creating compositions with a dark and melancholy atmosphere, reinforced by the layers of samples..Characterized by intense and introspective lyrics in French, the vocal parts combine clear female vocals and saturated male vocals, as a contrast between light and dark, life and death.The major influences of the bands are Paradise Lost, Draconian, Swallow the Sun, Avatarium & Trees of Eternity.
