Adapted in 1938 from a short story by Jean Giono, "The Baker's Wife" is one of Marcel Pagnol's major works and ranks among his biggest popular successes after the Marseille trilogy "Marius- Fanny-César". The writer-filmmaker was able to give this filmed story the moving universality of the situation of this baker left by his wife, who decides to go on bread strike, leading to the mobilization of the whole village. In the 1960s, Marcel Pagnol edited spoken word records of his greatest films, mixing his voice with the recordings made for the cinema. The unforgettable sense of scene and dialogue of the academician as well as the acting of the actors, including the unforgettable Raimu (whom Orson Welles considered the best actor in the world), are magnified here in this audio version. Audiobook, in French.
