Canadian pianist, composer and seasoned recording artist Stewart Goodyear forges new territory with his upcoming album, combining masterful works for the piano by Schumann and Mendelssohn with two of Goodyear's very own. He is joined by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Andrew Constantine. The album features two world premiere recordings of Goodyear's original works, exploring two very distinct thematic threads. The Rhapsody deals with themes of love and loss, considered by Goodyear to be "the most intimate piece I have ever written". Elsewhere, the 'Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso' constitutes a composition written in the spirit of Mendelssohn but inspired by the rhythmic and metric vigour of Sub-Saharan Africa. The intensity of Schumann's Op.54 Concerto in A minor, together with the affection of Mendelssohn's Op.25 Concerto in G minor, complete this new collection as a tapestry of romanticism and romance.
