On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Eduardo del Pueyo Pavane is pleased and very proud to release this collection of 32 piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven, recorded by the Aragonese pianist in 1976-77, in a fully remastered sound completed by world class sound engineers. We are supremely confident that it will be one of the most enjoyable complete sonata recordings on release. Eduardo del Pueyo was a great pianist and teacher, meticulous in his reading of scores and extremely respectful of Beethoven's indications. Above all, he was determined to stop any formulaic interpretation creeping into his performances. The famous French reviewer Jean-Charles Hoffele wrote about him: "Beethoven's sonatas have been the backbone of Eduardo del Pueyo's musical thinking: form at the service of improvisation, multiplicity instead of rules, abandonment of rhetorical method in favor of invention and, above all, the predominance of the rhythmic element over the melodic, shape the primordial elements of his art. From the beginning he introduced Beethoven' ssonatas to his programme and imposed a new style - bright and with so many different levels... his Beethoven, which sounded so bright, so new, so high, so brilliant and so decisive. This unusual artist was one of the twentieth century's greatest pianists and a first class musician."
