This album features performances by other New Orleans musicians, Jeff Burke, Vida Wakeman, Dave Easley, Gina Forsythe, Mark Ultra, Tom Stern, Brad Klamer, Derek Hansen, and Yanti Turang. New Orleans quintet Country Fried brings a new outlook to an old genre, helping to revive acoustic outlaw country. Telling the stories of themselves and friends through original songs that speak of the highs and lows that life brings, Country Fried brings back the "feeling" of country music. The band started playing gigs in neighborhood bars around New Orleans before hitting the stages for shows at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest, House of Blues and Tipitina's. They have opened shows for artists such as Junior Brown, Shooter Jennings, Delbert McClinton and the Gourds. The sounds of Country Fried have now been heard in Texas, Colorado, and throughout the Southeast on several tours. The band began as a side project for the trio of Todd "Whiskey T" McNulty, Taylor "Red Stick" Garrett, and Brian "Big Country" Ayres. The three got together, exhausted of the trail country music had taken; and began paying tribute to roots music greats. Playing covers of country music legends such as Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings the boys discovered more and more the power of this sound. They quickly "country fried" some of their rock originals and things took off. With Big Country on vocals, harmonica, and percussion, Red Stick on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Whiskey T on lead guitar and vocals, the combination developed with an emphasis on harmonies. Now playing with bassist Joel "Rocky Mountainhigh" Webb and drummer Diamond Joe Gelini, the sound is complete.
