DANIEL ABINERI / HONEY FOR SALE Debut solo album from singer songwriter Daniel Abineri is an autobiographical journey through his life. Combining Folk Rock, Country & Easy Listening this eclectic mix of songs shows off the song writing talents of this maverick writer and performer and tells a story along the way. Daniel started writing songs in the early eighties and has had two of his stage musicals commercially produced in Australia and London. For twenty-four years ('74 - '98) he also worked as an actor. Credits include starring opposite Arthur Lowe (of Dad's Army fame) for three years in the hit TV comedy 'Bless Me Father' (ITV '78-'81). He gave Tatum O'Neal her first screen kiss in Bryan Forbes' children's classic film International Velvet (MGM) and starred as super-villain Jake Sanders in the cult Australian TV series 'Return To Eden'. However, he is perhaps best remembered for his staggering 13 year run as Frank'N'Furter in The Rocky Horror Show, including the very first British tour in '79, the last year of it's original West End run in '80, and a string of hugely successful productions, which he also directed, in Australia and New Zealand throughout the 1980's. It was while casting a production of Rocky in NZ in '86 that he came across, and cast, a young bingo caller called Rus Le Roq (real name Russell Crowe) , thus igniting the acting career of the Oscar winning actor. In 1989 Daniel's self-penned rock musical Bad Boy Johnny & The Prophets of Doom was commercially produced in Australia. The original production starred Crowe in the title role. Daniel's musical won rave reviews especially for his songs, and also won two International Pater Awards for best score and best song from a musical. An album and single were released on WEA Records. "It mixes glitter and grunge, great music and witty dialogue to forge a masterful musical" THE AUSTRALIAN SUN 19.09.89 "Bad Boy Johnny is about to take you by storm! ...A profusion of hit songs" THE AUSTRALIAN 18.09.89 Returning to the UK in '93 Daniel mounted a showcase production of Bad Boy Johnny at The Union Chapel  in London - the show became a 'cause celebre' and made national headline news when a collection of irate nuns, the London arm of Opus Dei, and the Church Council of Great Britain complained that it was 'offensive and blasphemous' to stage the piece in an actual church. Following protests,  the production was closed after just nine performances! Even so, Daniel's songs again received great reviews. "The music is excellent...ranging from yearning ballads and rancid Lou Reed like love songs to all out rockers." CHARLES SPENCER - THE DAILY TELEGRAPH 19.01.94 In 1997 he produced, directed and narrated his first music documentary, One Hit Wonders for the BBC. He followed this in 1999 with a study of androgyny and theatricality in popular music called Walk On The Wild Side (ITV Network), which featured his interviews with Lindsay Kemp, Ray Davies, Dave Stewart, Herbie Flowers, Mick Rock and others. In 2000 Daniel was commissioned by ITV to compose the theme for The Year Of Promise hosted by Davina McCall. His song Will You Promise Me This was used across all programming for this TV event. In 2007 his anti-Bush song Mr President was released online by Amazing Tunes, who also produced a video clip. The track was remixed into various forms by Loft Music. In 2010 he directed a new version of Bad Boy Johnny that toured around the UK to critical and audience acclaim. Honey For Sale was recorded with producers Paul Carmichael and Nick Schinder in London 2013.
