The Bradley Vail Band is distinctive in a market that has become saturated in the past decade. While much worship music relies on musical and lyrical cliché, The Bradley Vail Band elevates the entire genre. The Bradley Vail Band's newest CD, Return, is a textured blend of American music. One can hear marked threads of classic rock, folk, gospel, soul, and blues. This reflects the band's varied influences, from the Grateful Dead to Johnny Cash to The Call. But the band's distinction comes from it's prophetic lyrics, all written by Bradley Vail, and the voice-in-the-wilderness quality of Bradley Vail's vocals. The songs are dramatic and dreamy, while at the same time human and accessible. Formed in 2002, the Bradley Vail Band launched it's unique worship experience first in the San Bernardino Valley in California. The tremendous response to the band (in a region waterlogged with bands) reflects a real hunger for quality music and worship. Bradley Vail believes the band's message - a call for adoration and reconciliation with God - and the intrinsic need for God-centered worship have allowed the band to reach a larger audience. Despite the success of the band, each band member has been and continues to be active in his or her local church. Bradley Vail (vocals/guitar/songwriter) started writing and leading songs regularly at church before Jr. High. In 1991, he formed the successful band 'True Tale' which played original music in both churches and clubs for nearly ten years. Leading worship in churches around southern California has brought him full circle to praise and worship. Shelly Turner (vocals) has been singing and touring the world in God bands since the age of 10. Heather Baguyo (vocals) is a regular cantor in the LifeTeen mass at The Holy Name of Jesus, in Redlands. Joe DeMarco (drums) still brings his rhythmic gift to several church worship teams around southern California. Scotty Davis (guitars) is a student at the University of Redlands who brings tons of texture to the band. Mat Troy (bass/vocals) is the youth pastor at The Holy Name of Jesus, in Redlands, Calif. According to Bradley Vail, "Worship is taking the world by storm. We are waking up. I know I have adored my God for a lifetime, yet I've told almost no one! Worship has become an awesome voice for those like me who would like to share our love of God with others. As we worship, we show outwardly our joy and gratitude for Christ's inward transformation." If this is true - if we are, indeed, "waking up" - then God is using the Bradley Vail Band as one of his alarm clocks.
