Genre: Gospel

This CD, produced under the small Austrian label C 4 Records, is a product full of joy and power which is not very often heard in that European country. It is a colourful, musical bouquet and it's songs are hymns which are regularly sung in American churches and Spirituals and Gospels which have been handed down over the years. An arrangement of the song "DAY BY DAY" from the musical "GODSPELL" as well as an Austrian composition "WHICH CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN IN?" can also be found on the CD. If one thinks he has been presented a CD that is only to be heard at Christmas, he is mistaken. With the exception of Silvia Radobersky (harp), all the musicians (Uli Datler-p: Erwin Schmidt- Hammond organ; Uli Langthaler-b; and Andi Weiss-dr) are native to Austria's jazz scene and they play "jazzy." As Jazz is an evolution of Gospel, here Gospel becomes an evolution of Jazz ergo back to the roots. The musicians and the vocalists do not seek to realize them- selves but to so interpret the music that it's original message be understood: joy, hope and strength for the soul. Elementary, experimental, energized and exciting this recording will uplift and elate as well as comfort. This is the document of a journey, returning to the place of first encounter. Life's experiences aid in the comprehension of life and give cause to call upon that which courses through one's being and supplies the strength to journey on.
