The four albums that legendary saxophonist Clifford Jordan recorded during his masterful final years in the 1990s for Mapleshade Records, known for it's dedication to high-fidelity sound, are now available on vinyl for the first time in a brand-new edition! A thrilling and sophisticated collaboration between the brilliant Ran Blake (piano) and the legendary Clifford Jordan (saxophone)-this unique masterpiece transcends genre boundaries. Drawing from blues, gospel, jazz, and classical influences, pianist Ran Blake delivers an innovative and unparalleled performance, while Clifford Jordan, at the peak of his artistry, brings his seasoned mastery to the recording. Recorded in 1989 at Mapleshade Studios, this tension-filled session includes a reimagined version of Billy Strayhorn's classic "Something To Live For" (M1), Blake's original composition "Vanguard" (M6) as a duo performance, and the trio piece "Doug's Prelude" (M9) featuring trombonist Julian Priester. Each note is crafted with deep sincerity by these master musicians, resulting in a pure and transcendent sound-now available on vinyl for the first time in history!
