Born in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Jorge Alberto began performing publicly in 1983. He was influenced by the internationally known "Sonero" Compay Segundo with whom he traveled extensively and developed a love of the traditional Son, with the desire to bring this distinctively Cuban sound to younger generations. Subsequently, Jorge Alberto meets Polo Montañez "El Guajiro Natural" and evolves as a songwriter and composer. In Miami, Florida, he is introduced to the renowned Sonero Israel Kantor in 2002 who "baptizes" Jorge Aberto as "El Gallito del Son" (the little rooster of Son). Along with Maestro Israel López Cachao, who adopts him as his musical Godfather, Jorge Alberto is further enriched by his love for the Son: the Cuban peoples' musical heritage. That same year, Jorge Alberto is awarded the "Premio Ambiente," and goes on to perform in New York, Canada, Puerto Rico, and South America. 'Mi Tumbao,' Jorge Alberto's first North American production was a labor of love that required a great deal of collaboration and support from those that have always believed in his talent and the transcendent genre of Son, responsible for the birth of modern day "Salsa." Masterfully arranged and engineered by Carlos Infante, 'Mi Tumbao' includes the following tracks: 1. 'Mi Tumbao' (Son) 4:09: Title track written by Jorge Alberto that pays homage to the Son and greats such as Celia Cruz, Cachao, and Benny Moré; 2. 'Que Dificil Es' (Son) 3:42: Testifies to the hardship that artists endure in order to have their music heard on the radio or backed by producers and labels, written by Jorge Alberto; 3. 'Oscura y Negra es La Vida' (Salsa) 4:08: Written by composer-artist Carlos Faroy; 4. 'Cosas Extraña' (Son) 4:05: Written by Rolando Core; 5. 'A La Loma de Belén' (Son) 3:53: Written by DR 6. 'Deja Eso' (Son/Rap) 3:54: Duet with Rey el Vikingo, written by Jorge Alberto; 7. 'Yo Te Canto, Puerto Rico' (Son) 4:03: A New York City radio favorite, written by Jorge Alberto; 8. 'Llévalo Contigo' (Son) 4:03: Written by Rolando Core; 9. 'Dieciséis Flores Para Ti' (Vallenato) 3:35: Colombian-inspired and written by Jorge Alberto.
