Barry intoned one of the most iconic protest songs of the '60s, "Eve of Destruction"-but this 1971 LP is like nothing else he ever did. Fueled by illicit substances, he and blues guitarist "Doctor" Eric Hord (who played with Mamas & Papas) combined psychedelic story-songs with country-blues jams: "The Old Farm," "Too Much City," "Electric City," "Train" and more. This didn't sell a lick-even though Chris Hillman, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, Bernie Leadon and Herb Alpert played on the sessions-but it's become a cult classic that the No Depression roots-music blog called "a lost treasure of the era." CD debut! Real Gone Music.
