Briarwood is a collaboration between two musicians: MacGregor Williamson, aka Greg, and Paul daniel Thomas. Featuring Greg on acoustic piano, as well as synthesizers, and Paul on vocals, guitar, and some synthesizer as well. This duo has combined to create a work of intimate contrasts; the light and pop tinged songs like Rendevous and Bedroom Window, against the darker and more alternative songs, like Well I Believe, and Sirens Call Us Home. But the direction and story of this album describes a process of awakening from the dream of a separate self. From song one, I Am Hypnotized, through to the end, it progresses through a path of awareness. The title cut, Sirens Call Us Home, is a song about the separation that humans experience, and features a recording of a two year old boy, clearly predicting an event that would take place seven or eight years later...the family's move to another state and city. The album liner notes describe this in more detail.
