As a vocalist and trumpet player, Christine Fawson has always loved performing classic jazz standards from the American Songbook. On her album, My Side (2013), she shows off her songwriting and pop singing abilities. The album, which features several great musicians, including guitarist and co-writer, Scott Tarulli, also showcases different timbres of Christine's vocal and instrumental skills. As one would expect, many of the songs on the album have a jazz influence but with an edge that goes along with her personal storytelling. That being said, this is not a jazz album, but one with catchy melodies and harmonies supported by serious groove. Christine was a member of the vocal jazz group, Syncopation from 2002-2012. The group recorded three CDs; A New Dance, Of Blue and Wonderful You which were widely successful both in the United States and Japan. While with Syncopation, Christine was featured at festivals throughout the United States and Japan. The group also appeared with Phil Wilson's Berklee Rainbow Band, The Capitol Center Jazz Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra. Christine played trumpet with the DIVA Jazz Orchestra from 2004-2007. She performed with the band at such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, and Lincoln Center, and with artists such as Anne Hampton Callaway, John Pizzarelli, Maurice Hines and the New York Pops. She has performed with DIVA in concerts and festivals in Europe and throughout the United States, as well as having recorded several records with the band. Christine continues to perform with the band as vocal soloist. Christine has been a solo artist at festivals and concerts around the world including, Darling Harbour Jazz Festival, in Sydney, Australia, World Music Festival in Hong Kong, Hanover Jazz Festival in Germany, the Women in Jazz Festival in Lucca, Italy, Seoul Arts Academy in Korea and the Ramon Cardo Big Band in Valencia, Spain. In 2009, she was featured in the Mexican premier of Gil Evans' Porgy and Bess with the Guadalajara Jazz Orchestra. Christine is an avid music educator. Her style of teaching is unique and exciting. She has been a guest clinician at festivals such as Disney Magic Music Days, Berklee High School Jazz Festival and Berklee on the road, as well as many All-State events and IAJE conferences. Christine's debut CD, Happy Talk, featured the arrangements of trombone legend, Phil Wilson. She has been featured on educational recordings including Fred Lipsius' 'Playing Through the Blues' and 'Musically Speaking' for the Bose Corporation. She has also been a sideman on several other recordings. Christine is an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music.
