This music is inspired by all the music I have heard throughout life. You may hear hints of classic 60's bands like the Beatles, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, and the Zombies. You may also hear traces of more modern groups, like Grizzly Bear, Deerhunter, and MGMT. There is even a hint of classical composers. It may not be apparent at first but there are horn and woodwind parts that are inspired by Stravinsky and Debussy. The band is, in some ways, a rather straight forward line up. It mostly consists of electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, and vocals. Then there is a pinch of synth here and there and a splash of horns. It is this simplicity, that let's the heart of the songs and the music shine. The music isn't so dense that it's impenetrable, but sparse and inviting. The first half of the album is indy-pop, catchy choruses and lyrical melodies. The second half becomes a bit more dreamy. The album hits energetically at first and slowly, from song to song, dissolves into a dreamscape that you could just close your eyes and lift off to.
