At the Gates formed in Gothenburg, 1990, and released 4 highly successful and influential studio albums before the band broke up in 1996, with members featuring in acts such as Cradle of Filth & The Haunted, before later reforming in 2007 for some successful reunion dates across the globe. All-in-all, At The Gates was one of the finest bands to explode out of their native Swedish death metal scene. The debut album 'The Red In The Sky Is Ours' was released in 1992 on Peaceville/Deaf to widespread acclaim; the inclusion of violin sounds ensuring that the album scored points for originality, and was innovatively offset by the intensely brutal yet melodic sound, with standout track 'Kingdom Gone' becoming a universal favourite.
