Lea Bertucci is a composer, improviser, and organizer working with installation, sound, and performance. As an instrumentalist, she focuses on the electro-acoustic preparation of the Bass Clarinet using speaker feedback. Recent projects include site-specific compositions for electronics and instruments, multichannel sound installations, and music concrete collage.Lea is currently an ISSUE Project Room Artist-in-Residence and a New Works Fellow at Harvestworks. She was awarded commissions from Roulette in 2008 and 2012. She has performed and exhibited at Smack Mellon, the Queens Museum of Art, the Kitchen, Anthology Film Archives, Caramoor, the Bronx Museum of Art, St. Mark’s Church, Experimental Intermedia, and the High Zero Festival, among many others. Lea is also active as a curator, organizing both large-scale, multichannel performances of experimental music as well as underground events.Leila Bordreuil is a Brooklyn-based cellist, composer, and sound artist from France. Her cello improvisations challenge conventional practice, producing textural variations from a collage of phantom overtones and pitched utterances. Through a unique and original vocabulary of extended techniques, preparations, and imaginative amplification methods, she transforms her instrument into an abstract resonant body. Her composed works draw from a similar texture-based musical aesthetic while developing relationships between sound and space. In her site-specific electro-acoustic compositions, architecture is the foundation of the piece and musicality arises from an organized spacialization of sound.Since moving to Brooklyn in 2012, Leila has maintained an active concert schedule playing with Marina Rosenfeld, Anthony Coleman, Tom Chiu (Flux Quartet), Chris Corsano, Eli Keszler, Richard Teitlebaum (Musica Elettronica Viva), Weasel Walter, Richard Garet, and Michael Foster, among many others. She has performed at the Whitney Museum, Roulette, Issue Project Room, The Kitchen, and the Performa Biennale.Like Lea, Leila is also a current New Works Fellow at Harvest Works, where she is building a five-string cello that serves as an interface for multichannel amplification and video projection through software manipulation. She has also been composer-in-residence at the Atlantic Center for the Arts (2013), and as a commissioned composer for the American Symphony Orchestra (2013).
