In 2007, Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov gave us an acclaimed version of Brahms's Violin Sonata No. 1. On this new release, they complete their cycle with performances of the Violin Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3 alongside Schumann's Three Romances Op. 94. The program concludes with the F.A.E. Sonata, a collaborative rarity by Brahms, Schumann and Albert Dietrich written in honor of the great violinist Joseph Joachim, who was challenged by the composers to guess who had written which movement.
