He was voted Country Music Association's Male Vocalist of the Year in 1971 and 1972 as well as Entertainer of the Year in 1971. The She's Just An Old Love Turned Memory album was released in 1977 reaching #6 in the Billboard country charts. Two #1 singles were lifted from the album, the title track and 'I'll Be Leaving Alone'. A third single 'A Whole Lotta Things To Sing About' reached #2.
