'Where the ability to communicate with words ends, music begins...' The compositions on this record exemplify this notion for me. All the pieces on this record were written over the past year and they embody the many joys and struggles found in life, from the joy of love and parenthood to the sorrow in a loved ones passing. I find that I am able to deal with emotion outwardly. Yet, when it comes to music I need to embrace the outside influences of life's many experience's as inspiration in my writing. This year marks my 20 year wedding anniversary to my dear wife, Anita, and so there is the 20 Year Waltz. In stark contrast there was the passing of my father, which brought many difficult feelings and first time experiences, as heard in 'My Old Man'. The title track, 'Strength and Anger' was written for my mother who has dealt with this heartbreaking experience with great strength and focus. My music and writing in general has taken a turn over the past few years. I think I began to finally realize and utilize my true influences as opposed to thinking I was someone else. In then end I am more comfortable as a writer and player and my music has grown to be a truer reflection of who I am as a musician and composer.
