Limited vinyl LP pressing. This eponymous album features early compositions by legendary jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, who was a student of composer Darius Milhaud during the time that he recorded many of the selections on this album. The Dave Brubeck Octet was released in 1956 although it compiles the octet's complete recorded output made between 1946 and 1950, which was originally released in other forms. The 10 songs on this album were released starting in 1950 by Fantasy under the title Old Sounds From San Francisco, first as two EPs then as a single 10-inch LP. The album features the likes of Paul Desmond, Dick Collins and Dave Van Kriedt.
