American mandolinist David Grisman combines bluegrass, folk, and jazz in a genre he calls Dawg Music. In the sixties belonged to the Even Dozen Jug Band with Maria Muldaur and John Sebastian and then in the psychedelic rock band Earth Opera. When he moved to San Francisco, he met Jerry Garcia and appeared on the Grateful Dead album 'American Beauty' and played in Garcia's bluegrass band Old & In The Way. This unique project also features two very special guests, the master of bluegrass banjo, Earl Scruggs, on "Dawggy Mountain Breakdown" (The Car Talk Theme) and jazz violin titan, Stephane Grappelli playing David's tribute to him, "Steppin' With Stephane." To top it all off, the title track, "Dawg Jazz" features the Tonight Show Big Band!!
