The Czech composer and inventor who was considered to be among the first piano virtuosos, Jan Ladislaw Dussek (1760-1812) was a pupil of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, who proved to be an enduring influence in Dussek's piano works. Dussek's 3 Piano Sonatas, dedicated to Muzio Clementi mark an auspicious debut for the Rome Fortepiano International Competition winner, Naruhiko Kawaguchi.
