One of the great soul music vocalists who rose to fame in the 1960s and 70s, Edwin Starr is best known for his definitive interpretation of the Vietnam War protest song War, and his crossover success in the disco scene of the late 1970s, which gained him fans on both side of the Atlantic. One of his most memorable successes from the disco era was the infectious dancefloor smash Contact, originally released in 1978, with Edwin at the helm, handling both the writing and production of the track. At some point in the late 1990s Edwin recorded a new version of the song with musical backing in the Hi NRG vein. On this exclusive release, we have taken Edwin's vocals from that session and have completely reconstructed and recreated the music and arrangement from the original early version, into something entirely brand new. Included on this exclusive single release is the main track plus four unique bonus mixes, including a instrumental version, a disco mix, radio mix, and disco radio mix.
