A brilliant songwriter, producer, arranger and gifted vocalist, Edwin Starr first came to prominence in the late 1960s during the height of the soul music explosion. He remained a force throughout the 1970s, scoring a huge hit at the beginning of the decade with his interpretation of the Vietnam War era protest song, War - which became an anthem for the ages. His huge presence on the emerging disco scene with a string of dancefloor hits, helped win him fans on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1979 he struck with the disco classic H.A.P.P.Y. Radio, which, like most of his material, he wrote and produced himself. At some point in the late 1990s Edwin recorded a new version of the song with musical backing in the Hi NRG vein. On this special release, we have taken Edwin's vocals from that session and have completely reconstructed and recreated the music and arrangement from the original early version, to create something entirely brand new. Along with the main track, we have included four unique bonus mixes, including an instrumental version, disco mix, radio mix, and disco radio mix for this exclusive release.
