Until his death in 1980 in Algiers, Dahmane had lived since 1949 in France where he had become the chronicler of the life, feelings and dreams of Algerian immigration, the "single" generation, that before family reunification. From 1974. The hoarse timbre, the more rhythmic, more universal chaâbi, banjo, mandola, violin, darbouka, Dahmane El Harrachi has shelled for more than a quarter of a century the exile of North African workers in a raised and more popular language comprehensible which made him probably the artist of the genre most accessible to all Algerian immigrants who came from the four corners of the bled, imbued with their local cultures.
