LP version of the band's trip into 1920's jazz. The duo Flanger are one of the boldest pioneers of contemporary music, known for doing the unexpected and to float freely into new frontiers. But no one could have expected that their fourth album, Spirituals, would be a musical trip to the pre-jazz era and the Swing music of the 1920's, Django Reinhardt, New Orleans blues and Dixieland. Original 1920's music standards boosted with modern instruments and the finest use of machines to be found in any human hands today: Burnt Friedmann and Uwe Schmidt (aka Atom). Burnt Friedman, founder of the Nonplace label, records and plays live with Jaki Liebezeit. In 2005 he has formed a group with David Sylvian and Steve Jansen. Atom, well known for his orchestral project Senor Coconut, has remixed Air, Depeche Mode, Martin Gore, Cesaria Evora and Towa Tei amongst many others. Nonplace. 2005.
