Legendary 10x Grammy winner George Benson fused his love of guitar-centric jazz and soul with R&B, which resulted in a sound that dominated pop radio to the surprise and delight of a generation. Benson's 1976 Warner Bros. Debut Breezin' was the first jazz album to be certified platinum, topping the jazz, soul and pop charts simultaneously, due in large part to the success of the soulful, scat-laden cover of Leon Russell's "This Masquerade." Fellow platinum follow-up In Flight (1977), found the master musician further establishing himself as a formidable singer, showcasing his tailor made tenor as well as his guitar chops on standout numbers "Nature Boy" and "The World Is A Ghetto," amidst funky backing from his Breezin' band and tender orchestral flourishes from Claus Ogerman.
