Discovered in Sydney by Half Moon Run's manager, Franz Schuller, the Aussie songsmith made his way to Montreal to record his first official release. The four-track offering was produced by Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, the National, Hey Rosetta!) and explores themes of "change, escapism and transformation. " That urge to be on the move is evident from the folksy, finger-picked opening track "The Art of Escape," and carries on through the darker, electro-tinged "The Real," and the short, sweet and soothing "Luna Sky. " The listener's journey ends with a remix of "Art of Escape" courtesy of Tora, which gives the tune a slinky, shimmering synth-pop makeover. By Sarah Murphy, exclaim. Ca.
