In this work text fragments from the Roman requiem liturgy can be heard; however not 'intact' and not in the correct liturgical order. They appear more as components reminiscent of a progressively realized whole. Although his composition " Et Lux " (for vocal ensemble and string quartet) Rihm wrote in 2009, sounds like it came from a time centuries ago, the music reflects the processes that formed it, including the ritual Requiem. Et Lux includes textual fragments Latin Requiem Mass, which appear as folders gradually realized whole.
